Matthew was in the household of his father, William throughout his childhood and before marriage. Those census records can be found with the profile of William Greene.
1870 Census lists Davis surname, family of daughter, Minerva and her husband Robert, both deceased by 1870. Also, M A Davis listed in the 1870 household of Wilson Greene. Ida Green listed in census, daughter of Barbara. Unknown if Barbara was married to Richard Furman Cook at the time, he is listed as father of Ida on her death certificate.
Rachel died in 1869 and Matthew must have remarried to Catherine, his second wife. According to the 1880 Census he was living with her and step children. No marriage record found.
