Frederick was born in 1880 and his birth was registered in Dec Qtr 1880 in Elham R.D.

He was baptised at the church of St Mary and St Eanswythe (spelt Eanswith in some records) on 17 October 1880.

At the 1881 Census the family were resident at 60 Dover Road, Folkestone

and in 1891 at 1 Radnor Place Folkestone

Frederick Greenland is a Military Veteran. Served in the Royal Navy unknown-1914 during the Great War.
At some stage Frederick joined the Royal Navy and at the outbreak of WW1 was serving as an Able Seaman, Service Number 197040, in HMS Hogue, a cruiser of the 7th Cruiser Squadron. On 22 September 1914 HMS Hogue, along with her sister ships HMS Cressy and HMS Aboukir, was torpedoed by the German submarine U-9 with the loss of over 1,450 lives.
[6] Many of these were reservists called up to man the fleet just before the outbreak of war. Frederick's body was not recovered.
Frederick is commemorated on the Naval Memorial at Chatham, Kent,
