GREENTREE - June 26, 1939, at district hospital, Bowral, Alfred George, beloved father of Gwen (Mrs. Carl Schwinghammer), South Grafton, and Charles Greentree (Bowral), aged 70 years. Funeral 3 p.m. this day at Bowral.
"OBITUARY" Daily Examiner (Grafton, NSW : 1915 - 1954) 27 June 1939: 
MR. GEORGE GREENTREE
Mr. George Greentree, father of the Mayoress of South Grafton, Mrs. Carl T. Schwinghammer, died at Bowral, at the age of 71yesterday. Mrs. Schwinghammer and Mr. Greentree's sister, Mrs. T. Parker, left South Grafton in an endeavor to reach the sick man's bedside before he died. Mr. Greentree was formerly licensee of the Crown Hotel Grafton, and spent most of his life in this city. He retired to live with his son, Charles, some time ago. His wife predeceased him about 10 years ago, having been fatally injured in a fall from a train in Sydney.
Mrs.Schwinghammer and Mr. Charles Greentree are the only two children. The funeral will take place at Bowral to-day. At last night's meeting of South Grafton Municipal Council members carried a resolution, of sympathy with the Mayoress in her loss.
