"Col" as he was affectionately known to a hoost of friends was a foundation member of the Richmond Memorial Bowling Club, and from the Club's inception in 1949 his name was synonymous with bowls in Richmond. He served on the Committee from 1950 and was a vice-president for 19 years and selector until 1974. As a young man Col was a prominent cricketer, playing for Richmond Club and Hawkesbury District teams. In later years he continued his interest in the sport by becoming an umpire. He was predeceased by his wife, Hilda. A service was held in St. Peter's Church of England, Richmond with interment taking place in the adjoining churchyard.
