Plough Turns Up Bottle
Full of Sovereigns
SYDNEY, Saturday.-Ploughing on the banks of the Hawkesbury River near Windsor, Aubrey Greentree, a young farm hand, ploughed up a pickle bottle full of sovereigns. The find was made on the property of Harold Clarke, vegetable merchant, between Cattai and Sackville North. For many years stories have been told of an old gold miner named Painter who buried three or four bottles of sovereigns on the property. These have been dug for many times but without success. Painter died about 80 years ago and his grave is near where the bottle was found. Another search for the remaining bottles is to be made.
