Edgar Lawrence Greentree was born on 15 March 1895 in St Peters, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, the son of Thomas Greentree and Phyllis Smith.^{[1] [2]}

He was a chemist in Scone, New South Wales from 1920 to 1937.^[3]

He married Florence May Allen on 11 May 1929 in Quirindi, New South Wales.^[4] Their children were:^[3]

• Elizabeth Florence Greentree (1934–)

Edgar died on 17 June 1960 in Sutherland, Sydney, New South Wales.^[5]
