Elizabeth Maude Jane (Greentree) Mayo-Jaffray was born on 7 Jul 1888 in Wisemans Ferry, Colony of New South Wales, daughter of Jesse Greentree (1853 - 1908) and Elizabeth (Douglass) Greentree (~1848 - 1937).[1]

Her siblings were:

  2. Agnes Mary (Greentree) Foley (1881 - )
  3. Clara Jane (Greentree) Starkey (1884 - 1953)

Elizabeth married Leslie Mayo Jaffray (1890 - 1937) in 1912 in Newtown, New South Wales, Australia. Their children were:

  1. Mr Howard Mayo-Jaffray (1910s - 2000s)
  2. Beryl C. (Mayo-Jaffray) Stiff (1910s - 2010s).

Elizabeth died on 25 Jan 1970 in Chatswood, New South Wales, Australia aged 81.

Her many grandchildren remember their grandmother with much fondness as a wonderful woman who was the kindest and cuddliest grandmother one could ever have. She was always fair and loved them all equally showing no favouritism. There were many tough times in her life but she remained stallwart and neve complained. Daughters said that they never remember her being in labour,mthe household simply woke the next morning to a new baby in the house.
