MRS. JANE HOBBS
AT the age of 88 years, Mrs. Jane Hobbs, another of those grand old identities of the Hawkesbury, who during their long and useful lives had done so much to uphold the traditions of, and generally develop this rich and fertile district, has passed to the Great Beyond, the death occurring peacefully at the residence of her son, at Maraylya, late on Wednesday evening of last week. The late Mrs. Hobbs had lived the greater part of her life in the Hawkesbury, and was widely known and highly respected through out the entire district. Of a charitable nature, and, like so many of those old identities who were direct descendants from the early pioneers, was essentially a home builder, and with her husband, the late Mr. Char les Hobbs. did much to assist the advance ment of the centre in which she resided. News of the passing of the deceased was received with deep and genuine regret, and the deepest sympathy is extended to her bereaved relatives. The late Mrs. Hobbs is survived by three sons, Charles, Thomas and R. Hobbs (Maraylya), and four daughters, Mrs. A. Roberts (Glebe), Mrs. L. Bradford (Paddington), Mrs. G. Greentree (Killarney) and Mrs. W. Metherell (Cattai). The funeral, which was largely attended, took place on Friday, the remains being laid to rest in the Roman Catholic cemetery, Windsor, the Rev. Fr. Galvin performing the last rites. Mr. Chandler, of Windsor, had charge of the funeral arrangements.
