Biography

Reverend Thomas Bailey Greer was born about 1783 in Bedford County, Virginia. He was the son of Moses Greer and Nancy Bailey.

Thomas married Ursula Webb in 1816 in Franklin County, Virginia. She was born about 1797, the daughter of Theoderick Webb (formerly Fitzgerald) and Sarah Huff. They had at least 7 children, all but one born in Franklin County.

Sometime around 1838-1840, Thomas and Ursula joined a wagon train and moved to Monroe County, Missouri. There, Thomas was trying to organize a Primitive Baptist congregation when he died in 1845. Apparently Ursula and some her children returned to Franklin County after the death of Thomas (in Missouri). She was living with various children there in 1850, 1870 and 1880. She was buried in the High Street Cemetery in Rocky Mount, Virginia.

Thomas died in January 1845 in Holliday, Monroe County, Missouri. He was buried in the Webb Family Cemetery in Monroe County.

Greer-4107 and Greer-2440 appear to represent the same person because: Both men married the same Ursula Webb and have identical death dates. Birth dates are only estimates. Clear duplicate.
