Biography

  • I've been researching family history since 1970. This all started with my grandfather Ed Dennis' stories. I have contributed to familysearch.org way before there was an internet. I also had membership at Ancestry.com, so a lot of my information (and perhaps a few of my mistakes) are wandering about the internet. Now with DNA available, some mysteries might be solved, some rumors put to rest and some new relatives found.
  • I use familysearch.org because it is free and they have good citation links so other people can find and see the documents. I like it because it is free to all users.
  • When I go through the documents, especially the Roman Catholic Parish records, I keep notes on the dates and pages, along with certain surnames in case I need to go back to them. I also add names onto Wikitree that are not related but would be a help to others searching their history.

Sources

  • First-hand information. Entered at registration.
  • Other sources are copies of marriage documents, census records, family record keeping, newspaper articles, and most recently DNA data.

DNA

My Genesis Gedmatch is: XH1052507
Until they merge the gedmatch and Genesis Gedmatch possibly in December, it is hard to compare.
I had 78 pages about 4600 matches. The closest matches are 4th cousins. So take a peek at my Wikitree and see if any names are familiar.

I see her now. My GG Grandfather was born in Illinois, but I have never been able to find a connection to any families of his father, Samuel. You can see what I have as well. You have so much more information, since my ggg grandfather is my dead end.

I don't what your connection is to the Cortright family (if any) but I have a dead end in my Cortrights in Illinois. I keep seeing you as managers of most the profiles I looked at. I saw you have a GEDmatch genesis kit, so I compared to myself, and we are certainly related, although a ways back.

Largest segment = 6.5 cM

Total Half-Match segments (HIR) = 54.4 cM (1.516 Pct)

12 shared segments found for this comparison.

481292 SNPs used for this comparison.

69.502 Pct SNPs are full identical

My kit is JU8869036 I did lower the threshold to 4cm, just because of possible distance. One SNP match on ch 2 is over 1000

Thank you for setting the unmerged match for John D, it's progress. I have sourced the profile of Joseph Jr., husband to Hannah, and left notes and source on the profile of Joseph Sr (in May)...Still optimistic this family can be put together...maybe ;)

Greetings,

I was looking at a duplicate you created as merge Lundy-1890 (L) and Lundy-774 (R). I am curious how the DOB was found for your profile there? Mine was located at R.E.Willson Family Book. Apparently sourced to Hardwick Meeting Records and Armstrong's Lundy Family.

Cheers!
