Biography

Daughter of Laborn Valentine Greer (1858–1948) & Nancy Ida Stone (1858–1941), Pearl Alline Greer was born on May 13, 1883, in Anderson, South Carolina. She married Almond Gambrell about 1904[1] and they had five children:

  • James Roy, Sr. (1905–1975)
  • Clifton Earle (1907–1978)
  • Harold Erskine (1909–1970)
  • Lillian (1912–1912)
  • Nancy 'Nanny' Louise (1913–1994)

Almond died of pneumonia in 1915 and Pearl then married widower Harley Eugene Vaughn (he was widowed by Pearl's 1st husband's sister, Kate Gambrell) on April 23, 1916, in Belton, South Carolina.[2] She died suddenly of a cerebral hemorrhage on October 20, 1941, in Honea Path, South Carolina,[3] at the age of 58, and was buried there.[4]
