I have many family lines that trace back to the SW counties of England so this is a particular interest for me. I enjoy sourcing and connecting profiles from earlier time periods, 1500 - 1700 being especially interesting. I have just joined the medieval project to hopefully learn more about tracking down and sourcing some of my earlier ancestors. When I'm not investigating my own family you can usually find me virtually in Gloucestershire, England - sourcing , connecting and fixing errors as part of the England Project.

I was born in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia in the 1960s, but as the daughter of a bank officer spent my growing up years moving around SE and W Queensland until I finished school.

I did my teacher training at Mt Gravatt College of Advanced Education and during my first few years of teaching in country primary schools I studied for my Arts Degree as an external student through the Q'ld University . History had been my passion since High School and so that was the focus of my degree.

During the 1980s I moved to Tasmania where I have happily settled with my husband. We have three children, all boys, and one grandchild, a sweet little girl.

The family history/genealogy bug was a gift from my mother who handed over the research she and her sister in law had started on my father's family and suggested I'd better get on with it! I'm so glad she did because it has been keeping me out of trouble for the last ten years.

I'm a very proud member of the England Project and love working with the wonderful people who share my passion. I can highly recommend anyone with an interest in researching their family in England to join the project and complete the induction known as the Orphan Trail.

My main areas of interest are the South West Counties of England which is where most of my ancestors hailed from before they emigrated to Australia.

Hi Elizabeth,

It's that time of the year again: check-in time! As England Project Leaders, we like to check in with you every six months or so to see how things are progressing. Back in May, we didn't ask for a response due to the rapid emergence of Covid-19 because we understood that people's lives were changing rapidly. While we are still living in a Covid world, we do need to hear back from you this time around

First of all, how are you doing? What are you currently working on? Are you happy with the team(s) you're in, or would you like to change things up?

Secondly, we're looking for some feedback on the Google Group and our Discord server. Do you use either or both of these? If you don't use either, why not? Do you have any suggestions on how we can improve participation and collaboration, either generally or for you personally?

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Lizzie, Amy, Joan

England Project Leaders

Hello Lizzie! Nice to hear from you :-) I am very happy with my current roles in the EP and don't want to change anything. I use both the Discord server and the Google group. I get the Google group as a daily digest but find Discord better for "on the go" discussions and collaboration. Hope that helps. Cheers!

Hi, Elizabeth!

Thank you for your participation in October’s 2020 Source-a-thon. Your contributions helped us to clear over 57,000 profiles that needed sourcing. This makes our Shared Tree all that much better.

Keep up the great work!

Elizabeth, Thankyou for your work on the Benwell profiles of my and cousin Carina's ancestors.....when the mergers, proposed, are completed I have much information to add.....I appreciate any assistance you might provide. Jack

Hello John,

You're welcome. Sadly I have no special knowledge on the Benwells to add to your profiles. I just noticed that there were some profiles that needed merging. I enjoyed the lovely photos that either you or Carina have added to the profiles, particularly Jack in his uniform. Good luck with your research. Cheers, Elizabeth :-)

Hello, Elizabeth!

Thanks for all the work you accomplished during our Connect-A-Thon 2020. It is amazing how many more profiles were created and added to our Shared Tree. You have every right to be pleased with your efforts!

These are unprecedented and difficult times, and we understand as Project Leaders that your situation may have changed somewhat in the last few months. What we are all able to/ wish to contribute on Wikitree has changed. Please let me know if you are happy with your current role and team choice or if you wish to do something additional or different. Thank you again on behalf of all the project leaders for everything you do.

Hi Elizabeth,

On behalf of the England Leaders, I wanted to say a huge thank you for all your contributions towards the project in the past six months as a Trailblazer, Regional Coordinator for the South West, and Team Member for Warwickshire, Gloucestershire, GEDcoms and Managed Profiles. We've achieved a great deal during this time and we couldn't have done it without you.

Are you happy to stay in your current teams and the project as a whole? Are there any other teams you'd like to join? What are we doing well, and what would you like to see us doing differently moving forwards?

Please respond to this message via e-mail. I look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks,

Susie, England Project Leader :-)

Thank you for the work you are doing to make WikiTree more accurate! I adopted Gyles Carter-4194. Why? I do not know. I never worked on his profile that I recall. I have released his profile, and no longer a manger of it. Please feel free to make changes as needed.
