Communication Preferences:
I am interested in communicating with
anyone who shares the same genealogical or historical interests.
Here is my family tree.
I have many family lines that trace back to the SW counties of England so this is a particular interest for me. I enjoy sourcing and connecting profiles from earlier time periods, 1500 - 1700 being especially interesting.
Elizabeth (Greet) Viney participated in the 2022 England Project Monopoly Challenge.
I was born in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia in the 1960s, but as the daughter of a bank officer spent my growing up years moving around SE and W Queensland until I finished school.
I did my teacher training at Mt Gravatt College of Advanced Education and during my first few years of teaching in country primary schools I studied for my Arts Degree as an external student through the Q'ld University . History had been my passion since High School and so that was the focus of my degree.
During the 1980s I moved to Tasmania where I have happily settled with my husband. We have three children, all boys, and two grandchildren.
The family history/genealogy bug was a gift from my mother who handed over the research she and her sister in law had started on my father's family and suggested I'd better get on with it! I'm so glad she did because it has been keeping me out of trouble for the last ten years.
I'm a very proud member and leader of the England Project, and I love working with the wonderful people who share my passion. I can highly recommend anyone with an interest in researching their family in England to join the project and complete the induction known as the Orphan Trail.
My main areas of interest are the South West Counties of England which is where most of my ancestors hailed from before they emigrated to Australia. I also have ancestors from Prussia and the Isle of Man.
