FATAL ACCIDENT IN THE BUSH.
Dr. Youl held an enquiry at the Alfred Hospital on Monday into the circumstances attending the death of Finlay Gregg, a labourer, aged 18 years, and son of a farmer residing in South Gipps Land. On April 21, while Gregg and another labourer named Watts were clearing scrub, an axe which the latter was using struck a sapling, and rebounding, cut Gregg just below the knee. A doctor was called and bound up the wounded leg. Gregg remained for 12 days in the camp, but the wound by that time had become so painful, that he was taken to the Alfred Hospital. He improved somewhat after admission, but on the 18th ult. he had an attack of secondary haemorrhage, and pyremia supervening, he succumbed on the 29th ult. The jury returned a verdict of accidental death.
