In 1719 Thomas and Phebe sold to Ebenezer Gregory land that had belonged to "our honored" father, Thomas Gregory. The Hurlbutts moved from Fairfield to Wilton, and gave their name to Hurlbutt St., on which their farm stood. Hurlbutt conveyed all his lands to his five sons, reserving the profit for life to himself and Pheve, "my present wife", indicating that she was not the mother of his children."
