Biography
James was the son of William Gregory and Nancy Laws. James was an Indiana State Senator from 1826 to 1831 for the district inclusive of Shelby, Decatur, Johnson, & Morgan counties per the memoirs of Noah J. Gregory.

Research Notes:
Indiana State Senator James Gregory of Lawrence County, Indiana. Native of North Carolina. Came to Indiana 1813. In 1818 located in Lawrence Co. and was a representative in the State Legislature in 1820. State Senator in 1821. He died in 1845 in Yucatan. Father of Judge R. C. Gregory of the Indiana Supreme Court.
