Margaret McNew, 96, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014. Service: 10 a.m. Saturday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Margaret was born on April 16, 1918, in Daviess County, Ky., to John and Pearl Gregory.
Margaret married George McNew in 1940 in Sorgho, Ky. Margaret and her husband George were longtime members and Sunday school teachers at Meadowbrook Baptist Church. Margaret devoted herself to helping others and was involved in several volunteer organizations. She was the president of the Tarrant Baptist Women's Missionary Union and a board member of the Riverbend Baptist Encampment. She was a consummate homemaker and hostess, and was always ready to entertain guests.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John William Gregory and Beverly Gregory; and husband of 45 years, George J. McNew. Survivors: Son, Jim McNew and wife, Terry, of Granbury; daughter, Joye and husband, Oscar Hinojosa, of Harlingen; grandsons, Victor Hinojosa and wife, Lynne, Carlos Hinojosa, Gregory McNew and Jeffrey McNew and wife, Jussekau; and great-grandchildren, Miriam and Monica Hinojosa, and Emily and Abel McNew.
