MRS. BERTHA SAVAGE.

MOTHER OF MRS. D. RAHM.

FOUND DEAD AT RANCH. 1

Rock Springs-Mrs. Bertha Etta Savage, 60, was found dead at her ranch home, seven miles northeast of Farson, at shortly after 6 p. m. Monday. The body was found lying face-down in a field a few feet from a granary, which Mrs. Savage had been repairing, by her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. D. P. Rahm, who lived with her on the ranch. Evidence apparent at the time and since then led to the conclusion that she had been kicked by a horse in the back of the head, incurring a fractured skull. 1

Coroner J. Warden Opie was notified and went to the ranch immediately. He made a preliminary investigation and brought the body into Rock Springs that night. The next morning he returned with Dillwyn Ramsay, deputy sheriff, and made a further investigation which was followed by another on Wednesday. Although the evidence apparently is conclusive that Mrs. Savage met her death when kicked by a horse, Ople has announced that an inquest will be held withln a day or two. Jesse Eagle, William Dewey and Wilson Fiscus, all residents of Eden valley, have been named as jurors to hear all findings in the case. 1

Mrs. Savage had been in Rock Springs since Thursday, returning to her home Monday, the day of her death. She arrived at the ranch about 4 p. m. and about 5:30 went to the granary to repair a place which horses had damaged, according to Mrs. Rahm. Meantime, Mr. and Mrs. Rahm were out of the house feeding chickens and milking. When they returned they found that she was absent and started immediately to search for her. Mrs. Rahm carried a flashlight and discovered the body which they did not remove until the arrival of the coroner. 1

Examination by Rock Springs physicians of the wound on the back of Mrs. Savage's head supported the supposition that the wound had been inflicted by the kick of a horse. 1

Mrs. Savage had lived in Eden valley for 30 sears and was well known in Rock Springs. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Rahm, she is survived by two sons, Walter A., of Casper, and Harold E., of Los Angeles. She also leaves two sisters Mrs. Alfred Anderson of Rock Springs and Mrs. W. A. Savage of Exira, Ia. 1
