Notes

A search of FamilySearch.org, Ancestry.com, AmericanAncestors.org and Find-a-Grave returned no records for her based on dates and locations in this profile. Caryl Ruckert 9/30/2018.

Thanks Caryl. Research indicates that the "Gregory" surname from Ancestry.com may be corroborated by both the Charles Melbourne Selleck source, and the Royal Ralph Hinman source, both cited above. Selleck states: "Abraham (1st), born September 17, 1736, son of John Gregory (4th), married Elizabeth, daughter of John and Sarah (Gregory) Betts...". No further information on this Sarah Gregory is given in this source. The previously noted DoB of 27 Jul 1711 on this profile seems to come from Ancestry, com and has been given in other sources as the DoB of John Betts, her husband. Until further corroboration is found, I have changed the DoB to 1711, uncertain; location of birth Connecticut, uncertain, and date of death "1760, uncertain". A possible resource for her ancestry may come from the James E. Richmond book, in reference to the disposition of the estate of John and Hannah Betts, which states that their son Joseph shared executor responsibilities with his older brothers John and Burwell... "John had married Sarah Gregory in 1736 and Burwell married Thankful Gregory four years later". (Note that the profile for Burwell The Betts and Gregory families owned considerable acreage next to each other for generations, and several marriages between the two families, with similar names, requires care in research. Thanks Gil, I don't put much faith in that particular FamilyTree data because it has no source. "Genealogy of the Puritans" and Spencer P. Mead's "Ye Historie of Ye Town of Greenwich", Betts Family Genealogy - pgs. 501-503 were used to produce her approximate dates. Some online genealogical sites apparently confused an earlier Sarah Gregory who married James Betts in 1676, and then attempted to somehow justify the huge range in dates between the two. See the notes for her profile, and John Bett's profile. Thanks!
