If you agree, then this John should be son of Thomas and first wife, Ann Twifford, currently Unknown (Twifford) Gregson.
Prindle claims this John was Thomas' eldest son, thus born to Thomas and Ann, based largely on the large estate John came to possess. Son John Gregson was the "eventual devisee .. to the 'whole lease of my farme ... [in Over Thurvaston] ... plus 'all my lande in Oslaston and Thurvaston ... and four parcels of land 'that did belonge to Sheerehall ...."
I'm not convinced John was the elder son. Thomas probably already had Sharrow Hall settled upon him; he was named overseer of Thomas senior's will. The property left to John was leasehold.
I'm still searching for primary evidence for William Twyford and his daughter. I can't see where the name Ann has come from - it seems possible that Ann and Elizabeth are the same person.
Prindle believes the ancestry of Thomas Gregson of New Haven can be traced to Thomas Gregson of Thurvaston, Derbyshire, who left will dated 27 Janaury 1583. According to an entry ... register of St. Michael Old Angels ... his son Thomas was buried in London [21 December 1595], which ties this Derbyshire family to the London Gregsons.
Prindle proceeds to lay out a family group for "John Gregson, Sr., living in 1565 ..."; this was "reconstructed from the 1565 will of Robert 'Grigson,' haberdasher of London."
