BIOGRAPHY: The 1841 British Cencus revealed that William and his sister Sarah were living at LEAPER STREET, St ALKMUND, DERBY with their maternal grandmother Elizabeth Ordish aged 77. Their uncle James Ordish aged 35 was also residing there.
Sarah was described as aged 15, a silk winder and William age 12 a silk throwster. By 1851 William aged 21 was lodging with the family of Hugh and Sophia Loughenbury, his future in-laws. He married their 19 yr old daughter Hannah on the 8th August 1852. By then he was described as a joiner, the trade of the father he never knew. Witnesses to Williams marriage were Mary Hill and John pearson. They had at least 11 children. The 1881 British Census of Ripley, Derbyshire listed the people living in Outram Street BURIAL: buried in the Nottingham Rd cemetary, Derby Grave No31925
