Duke Wartislaw IX of Pomerania-Wolgast was the son of Barnim VI, duke of Pomerania, and his wife Veronika^[1].

Between 1416 and 1418 he married Sophie of Saxe-Lauenburg, daughter of Eric IV, duke of Saxe-Lauenburg^[1]. They had 4 children:

1. Elisabeth, abbess of Bergen
2. Eric II, duke of Pomerania-Wolgast
3. Wartislaw X, duke of Pomerania in Rügen
4. Christoph (died young)^[1].

Wartislaw IX died on 17 April 1457 at Castle Darsim^[1] (now Ludwigsburg, municipality of Loissin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern).
