Biography

Elizebath (Elizabeth) Greig was born 23 Oct 1814 and christened on the 14 Nov 1814. Her parents were William Greig & Hellen Imry^[1]. Elizabeth lived with her parents until they both died. She had a child in 1859 but never married. She had two siblings - Agness born Mar 1813 and William Born 20 Sept 1820. In 1841, Elizabeth was living with her parents in Kilmany, Fife; their address was Lochmalony, Parish 437. Her father was an agricultural labourer^[2]. In 1851, Elizabeth was still living with her father at Clubston. She is 36 years old. her mother was not there^[3]. In 1859, Elizabeth gave birth to her daughter, Elizabeth Mary Jane Greig on 24 Jun 1859^[4]. IN 1861, Elizabeth and daughter are living with her father, William who is now 79 years old. Elizabeth is 46^[5]. In 1871, Elizabeth has moved to Ferry Port on Craig, address is Greenside Place and her occupation is dressmaker. Her daughter, Elizabeth, is now 11 and she has two female lodgers^[6]. 1881 found them still at Greenside Place, where Elizabeth was a housekeeper, aged 67 years, Elisabeth, her daughter, was 20 and they had one lodger^[7]. In 1891, they were still living at the same address; Elizabeth is 76 and Elizabeth, daughter, is 30. they are living on private means (? money left by father)^[8].

Research Notes

I was working on this profile as it was unsourced. It is uncorrect that Elizabeth married a George Duncan as she lived with her parents until her sixties. I have been unable to find her death record.
