Biography
William was born about 1845 possibly in Germany. He may have been also known as Wilhelm.
His wife was Magdalena Grell nee Grim (also spelt Grimm), and children included Wilhelmina (dead 1865), Carolina Christiane (born 1868), Mary Helena Tait nee Grell (1870-1948), Hermann Carl (also called Herman Christian) (1871-1941), Augusta Ernestina (probably 1873-1902) and Francis John Augustus (dead 1943).
William appears to have lived much of his adult life in the Rockhampton-Emerald part of Queensland.
He passed away around 3 April 1883 near Bogantungan in central Qeensland. He was found drowned in a waterhole, undressed, with his clothes found nearby, He was probably swimming.
