Among other early settlers were Sam and John Long, John Walker (known as SilverJohn), and Bennie and Philip Gresham. All of these men were from Perry County, Tennessee. Arvin Carpenter and his sons, John and Elisha, settled in the northern part of the county near Jonesborough, an extinct town about a mile east of the present town of Chalybeate. William McKee came from near Middleton, Hardeman County, Tennessee, and after living near Ripley for several years moved to the vicinity of Graham where another Hardeman Countian, Dalton Sweeton, had settled previously.
Washington, Arkansas was twenty-eight miles from Clear Lake and still exists by that name, in Hempstead County, east of Little River County. 677. Miss Kate Gresham was the daughter of Dr. Phillip Gresham. Later she will marry Lewis A. Tyler ... [Terri's question - this a possible clue, ???]

According to the 1871 estate information filed under Daniel Griffin in Henry Co Tn, there is also a "minor child" names Helen.
I have seen no record of this child. She is alive in 1871, but does not appear in the 1860 census... Where is she???
