David gives his birthday as 15 July 1755. This statement is found in his application for a pension # S 16393. He also tells that he was born in Halifax Co VA

LOCALE: David lived in VA, SC, and GA. The area in which he lived in each of these states was geographically similar. All of his home sites were located in the Up- land regions rather than in the Coastal Plains to the East or the Mountaind to the West. places where David lived were:

DEATH: The exact date of David's death is not known, What is known is that David was living in Troup Co. Ga. 1830. At that time he would have been about 75. In 1840, he has left Troup Co. Gva. and is found in Pike Co. Ga. living next to Burrow family. He has not been found on the 1850 census.
EDUCATION: There does not appear to be a record of the education of David. It well may be that he was not formally schooled. On documents that contain his signature, he signed with his mark "D".
MARRIAGE: No record of David's marriage has been found. It is believed that his wife's name was Elizabeth. Her maiden name may have been Isham. It was a common practice in thoae days to give a son , the mother's maiden name as a first name. David has a son Isham Gresham. Isham is a surname. An 1825 deed has been found that lists land located on the Isham branch of the Turkey Creek in the very area where David had lived in South Carolina.
