“This Indenture made the 28th day o April in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven Hundred & Eighty six Between DANIEL GREEN of Orange County of North Carolina of the one part and DAVID DRISKELL of the County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said DANIEL GREEN for and in consideration of the sum of Fifty Pounds Specie in hand paid by the said David Driskell receipt hereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted Bargained & sold & by these presents doth Bargain sell, convey & confirm unto the said David Driskell one certain tract or parcel of land situate lying & being in the County of Orange on the waters of the third fork of New Hope Beginning at a pine Running East upon the old line to a water oak, then South on the old line to Spanish Oak, Then west on the old line to a hickory then North on the line now made to the first station containing in the whole one Hundred Acres be the same more or less, Being part of a tract granted by the state unto JOHN GREEN SENIOR the plantation where the said David Driskell now lives, To have & to hold the said tract or parcel of land with all houses, orchards, woods & under woods & all other appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging to the said land & promises unto the said David Driskell his heirs & assigns to the only proper use & behalf of him the said David Driskell and his heirs forever force & clear of and from all former or other Deeds gifts, grants, Bargains, sails (sic), Dowers, Judgement (sic), Eecutions or any other Incumberances whatsoever & lastly the said DANIEL GREEN doth for himself his heirs etc. promise & agree to & will the right of the property of the said land & premises with the appurtenances warrant and defend to the said David Driskell, his heirs and assigns forever, In witness whereof the said DANIEL GREEN hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written. /s/ DANIEL GREEN - seal Signed, Sealed & Delivered in presents us Edward Gresham Thenale (his X mark) Pharmer (DTG Note: Othnell Farmer) Orange County August 1786. John Scoggin, William Rhodes, Edward Gresham Jun., and John Baker are appointed to a jury to determine if Charles Abercrombie and William Thetford should be granted the right to build a public Grist Mill on their own land on the River Enoe near Shoemakers Ford, and to determine and report to the court whether it will overflow the Mill of any other person or make a nuisance to the Neighborhood.
