Biography

From a message board posting:

Message Board Post:

Wonderful to get a reply to a query placed in 1999! I would like to share some family information with you. Jonas J. Grett was my great-great grandfather too. I am descended from his daughter Mary Matilda Grett who married William Sherman DeWeese. Another DeWeese cousin has done some marvelous research on the Grett line. Her efforts take us back to Andereas Grett b 26 Dec 1720 in Lotharingia (Alsace-Lorraine) France who arrived in Philadelphia on the ship Phoenix from Rotterdam in 1749. Prior to making the pilgrimage to America, he traveled to Rome for Pope Benedict XIV blessing. This framed papal blessing is in the library of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Bally, PA. From which of Jonas' children are you descended? Would like to have your family line for my record and would be happy to share mind with you.
