Herbert Paul Grice was born March 13, 1913 in Harborne, United Kingdom.[1]
He married Kathleen. They had two children, Tim and Karen.[2]
He was a philosopher of language and usually wrote under the name Paul Grice, H.P. Grice or H. Paul Grice.
Paul attended Clifton College and then Corpus Christi College in Oxford, England. He briefly taught at Rossall School and then taught at St. John's College in Oxford until 1967 when he moved to the United States where he taught at the University of California in Berkeley until his death.[3]
He passed away August 28, 1988 at the age of 75 in Berkley, California.[4][5][6]
