Pvt. John Greer was a Prisoner of War during the United States Civil War.

His Regiment surrendered in Alabama, May 5, 1865, after the Peace, and then they were all put on a train and Paroled May 9 1865 in Meridian, Mississippi. And guess the boys in Grey had to get home on foot from there. Mississippi to Texas, or Arkansas, his family was in Arkansas.

So his dad died in 1863 and his mom was living near/with his brother Jaems.

"The 1890 Oklahoma Organic Act organized the western half of Indian Territory and a strip of country known as No Man's Land into Oklahoma Territory. Reservations in the new territory were then opened to settlement in land runs later that year and in 1891 and 1893." (Whiteman's farming land)

Grier-398 and Greer-3877 appear to represent the same person because: Use the Greer spelling surname since father and siblings are spelled that way. Wife of 3877 was Sarah ... One son was John according to the bio of 3877 - his dates match. His children will be spelled Grier.
