Pvt. John Greer was a Prisoner of War during the United States Civil War.
His Regiment surrendered in Alabama, May 5, 1865, after the Peace, and then they were all put on a train and Paroled May 9 1865 in Meridian, Mississippi. And guess the boys in Grey had to get home on foot from there. Mississippi to Texas, or Arkansas, his family was in Arkansas.

"The 1890 Oklahoma Organic Act organized the western half of Indian Territory and a strip of country known as No Man's Land into Oklahoma Territory.
