Biography

Laurence Griffin MD was born in Ireland.

Son of Laurence Montague Griffin.

Dr. Lawrence Thomas Griffin, L.R.C.P.L, was listed in the Thom's Almanac and Official Directory for Kerry Borough in 1862 as a Medical Dispensary Official for Killarney.

By 1877, he was listed as an account holder at the KERRY BANK ACCOUNTS at THE NATIONAL BANK 1877 Listings^[1] as Griffin, Laurence Thomas, Killarney M.D.

In the Killarney section of Slaters Directory of 1894, he is listed as the Resident Medical Superintendent, Laurence T. Griffin L.R.C.P.L., at the county Medical Asylum^[2]

In the 1901 Census Fact: Residence listed as Killarney. Listed as the "Occupation:Licentiate R C P L and of L R C S I Physician and Surgeon and Medical Superintendent" at an Asylum in Killarney. States that he could speak "a little Irish". ^[3]

Marriage Announcement

"...county Dublin, Laurence T. Griffin, Esq.. M.D., Clara daughter of Francis Newton, Esq., of Glencar. county Kerry.” ^[4]

By the 1901 census, Dr. Griffin is listed as "widowed". There is a 16 years old "neice" named Margaret Stokes living with him.
