Elizabeth Griffin, daughter of Joseph and Sarah Griffin of Roxbury, was born 2 February 1699/1700 at Roxbury. ^{[1] [2]}

Elizabeth married Samuel Sumner, son of George (2) Sumner who was born 13 Nov 1695 and died 8 February 1782. Elizabeth and Joseph settled at Pomfret. Their known children were ^[2] :
