Biography
Smithie (Griffin) Flowers is a part of US Black heritage.
Smithie Griffin was born about 1862 in Alabama. In 1870 she was living in the household of Elisha and Caroline Griffin and seems to have been their child.[1]
She married Lewis Flowers on 18 December 1879 in Pike County, Alabama.[2] In 1880 she was living with her husband in Dixon, Pike County, Alabama.[3]
In 1900 they were living in Dixon with their 10 children. Smithie was listed as the mother of 12 children, 11 of them living.[4] In 1910 they still had 9 children at home. Smithie was listed as the mother of 14 children, 13 of them still living.[5]
She died on 12 January 1915 in Pike County, Alabama[6] and was buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Tennille, Alabama.[7]
