Biography

John Emerson Griffin was born on 15 Jan. 1882^[1] at Robinson, McLennan County, Texas.^[2] He appeared on the census of 15 June 1900 in the household of his parents, William Griffin and Mary Ann Rebecca (Estes) Griffin, at Justice Precinct 1, McLennan County, Texas.^[3]

He married Naomi Mildred Isbell, daughter of George W. Isbell and Paralee (Little) Isbell, on 26 Jan 1904^[2] at Waco, McLennan County, Texas.^[4]

He was a farmer when he and Naomi appeared on the census of 23 April 1910 at McLennan County, Texas.^[5] He was a laborer at a brokerage company when he and Naomi appeared on the census of 10 April 1930 at 1000 N. 13th Street, Waco, McLennan County, Texas.^[6] He was a department manager for a wholesale grocery whe he and Naomi appeared on the census of 11 April 1940 at Waco, McLennan County, Texas.^[7]

John died on 15 June 1961 at Terrell State Hospital, Terrell, Kaufman County, Texas^[1], at age 79 and was buried at Laurel Land Memorial Park, Dallas, Dallas Co., Texas.^[2] His memorial has photos of his headstone and a link to that of his wife, Naomi.^[8]
