Biography
Notes
- Could this be the son of John Griffin?
- On May 17, 1845, Simon Griffin testified in Martin County that he was present at the marriage of his sister Elizabeth Griffin to Daniel Robeson; that the marriage took place some 50 or more years ago in the dwelling house of their father John Griffin when Elizabeth was 18 or 20 years of age.
- And possibly the son of Zilpha Airs/Ayers, who married a John Griffin on December 26th, 1775 in Tyrrell County, North Carolina?
- If so, it appears that John Griffin, husband of Zilpha, was deceased before the 1790 census when Zilpha Griffin is listed as a Head of Household with two males under 16 and three other females.
- Possible children and grandchildren looking at the proximity of families and reoccurring names in the 1860 census:
- H. R. Griffin, born about 1815, married Patsey Unkown
- Marina, born about 1820, married an unknown Lilley
- Has sons Simon and Alfred
- Christina, born about 1824, married Enoch Lilley
- Has a son named Simon
- Simon's great-granddaughter, Annie Virginia "Jennie" Griffin Ange, had a number of Lilley cousins, if the large number of old pictures she had are any indication as to a family relation.
