1840 census at Huntington Co, Indiana. He states his name is Joshua Griffith (clerk may have mis-spelled it) He lists himself as a WHITE man aged 30-40 (born 1800 to 1810) States he has 3 Free-Colored males under age of 10; and 4 Free Colored females under 10; and 1 Free-Colored female aged 24-36.

The 1840 census reflects a WHITE man married to a free-colored wife, and they have 3 little boys and 4 little girls.

I only know of Parthena, Lucinda and Soloman having been born prior to 1840, so we must have children missing.

Also: was the name really Griffith, and then after he died Nancy called the family Griffin? Or, perhaps the census clerk wrote Griffith, instead of Griffin?
