Honora Griffin was born in Ireland.

Honora was born in Ballinorig around 1846. She had a daughter in 1869.^[1][2]

Research Notes

Hanoria Griffin was the mother of Bridget Griffin who was born out of wedlock. We know little of Hanoria other than she was from Ballinorig and was child-bearing age in 1869 and still single at that time.

With an illegitimate birth, we cannot be certain that she was not very much younger than the average age for a first-time mother and the range would be 14 to 46. Hanoria claimed the father was Martin Delaney and he would have been about 26 at the time. It was possible that she was older than he, but not likely by much and a upper range of 36 might be more realistic. Unfortunately, there are large gaps in parish records for that period and with the wide use of both the given name and surname, it is hard to find marriage and/or census data to help support a conclusoin.
