Biography

A 1909 Delayed Birth Certificate filed in Union County, North Carolina, for James Hebron Griffin identified Lex Caldwell Griffin as his father. His marriage license and death certificate show his parents as Lex C Griffin and Dora (Smith) Griffin. His birth is given as 2 Jun 1909 in Union County, North Carolina, on his death certificate. James married Onnie Clayton Mauldin, daughter of Gilliam Clayton and Louvinia (Freeman) Clayton, on 25 Nov 1950 in Stanly County, North Carolina. [2] He died on 18 Mar 1968 in Albemarle, Stanly County, North Carolina, and is buried in the Prospect Baptist cemetery in Albemarle. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle handled the arrangements for the family. [3]
