Elenor was born on March 9, 1766 in Queen Caroline Parish, Howard County, Maryland.She was the daughter of Henry Griffith and Ruth Hammond ^{[1] [2]} She married John Burgess on July 27, 1785 in Anne Arundel, Maryland. ^{[3] [4]} Elenor died on Oct 7, 1821 in Frederick County, Maryland, and was buried in the New Market United Methodist Church Cemetery there. ^[2]

   Henry Griffith, son of Orlando and Katherine (Howard) Griffith, was born February 14, 1720, in Queen Caroline Parish, Anne Arundel County. He married first Elizabeth, the daughter of Edward and Sarah (Todd) Dorsey, on April 9, 1741, in Queen Caroline Parish.
