In 1870, there was a son listed on the US Census as W. C., near the age Oliver would be. In looking at the original document, it appears that W. C. was actually W. O., aka Wyatt Oliver.[1]
In 1880, the family was living in Dale County, Alabama.[2]
Leila Smith married Wyatt Oliver Griffith. In 1930, the couple and his sister, Fannie Griffith, were living in Heflin, Cleburne, Alabama. Her husband, Wyatt, was a bookkeeper for a general merchandise business.[3]
Wyatt passed away in 1940 in Tuskegee, Macon, Alabama. His parents, Elmore Griffith and Sarah Gauly, were named on the death certificate, as well as his wife, Leila Smith. Wyatt's occupation was listed as merchant.[4] Burial was in the Tuskegee City Cemetery, Tuskegee, Macon County, Alabama.[5]
