Biography

William's approximate date of death determined by the following deeds:

21 June 1734 - 'To all People to whom these Presents shall come Greeting Know ye that I William Griffeth of the Town of Middleborough in the County of Plymouth in New England for and in Consideration of the Sum of Three hundred Pounds in Money to me already in hand paid by my son Jesse Griffeth of ye Town & County aforesd. Wherewith I do acknowlege my Self to be fully Satisfied Contented & Paid Have freely & absolutely Bargained & Sold Alienated Enfeoffed & Confirmed and by these Presents do Bargain Sell Aliene Enfeoffe & Confirm from me the sd. William Griffeth and my Heirs unto him my sd. Son Jesse Griffeth and his Heirs and assigns forever all that my Farm & other Land which I had of William Short by a Deed bearing Date June. 3: 1734 Excepting that I Reserve to my Self and my Wife Mary Griffeth the Use & Improvement of the one half of sd. Farm & Half of the Housing that is on it during either or both of our natural Lives,' etc. Acknowledged 29 June 1734. (Vol. XXIV, p 76)

10 Oct 1734 - 'To all People to whom these Presents shall come Know ye that the I Mary Griffeth of ye Town of Middleborough in the County of Plymouth in New England For and in Consideration of Security given me in one Bond obligatory of one hundred Pounds bearing Date July 23d 1734. By my loving Son Jesse Griffeth of the Town & County aforesaid Yeoman In which sd. Bond the Conditions therein Indorsed are That if my sd. Son his Heirs Executors or Adminrs. shall Provide for & allow unto me the sd Mary Griffeth good & sufficient meat Drink Washing & Lodging and all other necessaries both in Sickness & in Health as in sd. Conditions Indorsed in sd Bond is fully expressed Reference thereunto being had for the particulars therein contained Then sd. Bond to be void &c. Now the Receipt of which sd. Bond I acknowledge and my Self therewithall fully satisfied Contented & Paid Have Remised & Released & forever Quit Claimed and by these Presents do forever Remise Release & forever Quit Claim to the sd. Jesse Griffeth my sd Son in his full & peaceable Possession & unto his Heirs and assigns forever all my Right Title Interest Claim or Demand whatsoever as I the sd. Mary Griffeth had have may have or ought to have of in or to all or any of ye Lands Buildings Fencings & appurtenances That my late Husband Willm Griffeth sold unto my sd.
