John married Jane Hollis.

Their son John Thomas Griffiths was born in 1872 in Widnes, Lancashire; his birth was registered in the third quarter of the year, in Prescot district.^[9]

Their son William Henry Griffiths was born in about 1876 in Widnes, Lancashire; his birth was registered in the first quarter of the year, in Prescot district.^[10]

Their daughter Ann Jane Griffiths was born in about 1877 in Widnes, Lancashire. Strangely, no birth registration could be found for her and there is a birth registration for a William Henry Griffiths with the same mother's maiden name around the time Ann was born, although there is no death registration for the William Henry Griffiths born in 1876. ^[11]

Their daughter Mary Ellen Griffiths was born in about 1879 in Widnes, Lancashire; her birth was registered in the first quarter of the year, in Prescot district.^[12]

Their daughter Sarah Elizabeth Griffiths was born in 1880 in Widnes, Lancashire; her birth was registered in the second quarter of the year, in Prescot district.^[13]

Their daughter Maggie Alice Griffiths was born in 1881 in Widnes, Lancashire; her birth was registered in the last quarter of the year, in Prescot district.^[14]
