Unknown source for birth or parentage. Maria Barbara Grimm married John Heinrich Krebs in 1730.[1] Together they have at least four children who are posted to this profile. Her death in 1778 was rather unusual in that she was "found dead in front of her house."[2] She is buried in New Hanover Lutheran Cemetery.[3]

Research Notes

This profile lacks birth and parentage sourcing. As the profile manager is new, there will be a lag in locating new references for the life of Maria Barbara.

According to indices in Ancestry, Maria Barbara was born in 1713 in Baden Württemberg, Germany to a father named Peter Grimm, OR in 1716 in Baden Württemberg, Germany to a Michael Grimm, OR 1711 in Baden Württemberg, Germany to Johannes Grimm. If we are to stick to a March 1713 date, then her father is Peter. I see no references for a 1715 birthdate.[4] If we extend the search across to the Rhineland, there is a 1715 birthdate for the daughter of Stephan Ludwig Grimm in Mainz.[5] At this time, there is no proof of a Grimm family in the Pennsylvania quarters at the time of her listed birth. She would have to have been from the New York Palatines to have her birth in the new world.

Peter Grimm does arrive in Pennsylvania, but not until 1752.[6] A Johan arrived in 1750. Likewise, a Johan Georg arrived in Pennsylvania in 1733.[6] There is no record of Stephan coming to America so far.

This profile is currently attached to Edigius Grimm, but from his birthdate and arrival in 1728 into America, it is not likely that he is Maria Barbara's father. She is also not referenced at all in his will where he goes to great pains to list all of his children as his heirs in some capacity, even naming a grandson from a deceased daughter. Maria may have arrived in America with Edigius, but she would have been too old to be his child. This all assumes as fact that she was born a Grimm/Krimm.

Anyone with references or clues to locate said references will be blessed beyond belief if this information is shared below in the Comments section.
