COWRA. (1899, November 3). Western Champion (Parkes, NSW : 1898 - 1934), p. 6. http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article112294418 On Sunday afternoon a little girl named Florence May Grimshaw, aged 11 years, daughter of Mr. John Grimshaw, of near Canowindra, was admitted to the hospital in a collapsed condition from the effects of extensive burns on the right side, leg, and arm, sustained at her parents' residence on the previous day. Despite the constant and skilful attention of Dr. Foley the poor child died at 1 o'clock on Monday morning. It appears the child was lacing her boots in front of a fire when she overbalanced and fell forward into the flames. Her clothing immediately ignited, and enveloped in flames, she rushed into a bedroom, where she was met by her mother, who, with much presence of mind, wrapped a blanket round her and held her until the fiery element was extinguished.
