Albert was born in 1860. Enumerated mulatto in 1870.
Mother: Ann Grinstead.
Father: unknown Grinstead slaveholder.
His son, Isaac, was using white by the 1940 Census- so it is safe to state that Albert's father was white, and likely the owner, or son, of Albert's owner.
Albert's half-brother Robert was interviewed about 1937 by the WPA Freedman's Narratives project. Robert R. Grinstead was interviewed in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma by an unknown interviewer as part of the Federal Writer's Project of the Works Progress Administration (WPA). The results are made available by the Library of Congress. [1]
Last record: 1940, widowed and living with daughter in New Orleans, Louisiana.[2]
