Nevada Governor. Elected as Lieutenant Governor in 1926, he became Governor of Nevada after death of Governor Balzar.
Morley Isaac Griswold, son of Chauncey W Griswold (1867-1928) and Mary Ellen Dakin, was born near Lamoille, Nevada. He graduated from the University of Michigan and received his law degree in 1915. He practiced law in Reno and served as Reno City Attorney from 1915 to 1926. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I.
He was the 16th lieutenant governor of Nevada from 1927 to 1934. He became the governor of Nevada upon the death of Governor Frederick Balzar on March 21, 1934. Unsuccessful in his election bid, he left office in January 1935.
Morley, age 60, died of "coronary occlusion" at home (1010 LaRue Street, Reno) on 3 October 1951. He was a married lawyer. Father: Chauncey W. Griswold, Missour; mother: Mary Ellen Dakin, Nevada.[1]
