Biography
Henry was born in 1811. He passed away in 1872. Shortly after his sister Harriet married John Price Morton of Louisville, Henry became involved in his publishing business. For a while the name of the firm was "Morton and Griswold Publishing" before becoming simply "John P. Morton Publishing" after Henry left to be president of the Bank of Kentucky in 1860. Later on Henry's son, Alex, and several other members of the Griswold and Morton families would be involved with the company, which shut down in 1943 after 120 years in business (reportedly for lack of a male heir).
