in 1928 started Groff's Snack Food Co. with his wife, Mamie Groff in Bowmansville, PA. Their style of manufacturing process is known as kettle cooking. Groff's chips are thicker, curlier than conventional chips.
Their plant is in Bowmansville, PA. and shipped across the country in large metal tin containers, rather than bags, so insuring the chips stay whole and don't break.
He registered for the draft for World War II at the age of 61[1].
