She was baptised on 21 August 1805 at Saint Giles in the Fields, Saint Giles High Street, Holborn, Camden, England.[1]
Her father died in 1830.
Jane married John Shaw Jr. on 26 July 1832 at St Nicholas' Church, Brighton, Sussex, England, by Licence[2]. The witnesses were Richard Groom, John Shaw and John Pocock:
MARRIED- At Brighton, on the 26th inst., by the Rev. Edward Miller, John Shaw, of Chatham-place, Blackfriars, eldest son of John Shaw, Esq., of Christ's Hospital and Bexley, Kent, to Jane, eldest daughter of the late William Groom, Esq., of Russell-square.[3]
England and Wales Census, 1841: Living with her husband John (aged 35) and their three young children Julia (8), John (4) and Elizabeth (2) at Bexley, Kent, England. Jane was aged 35. Also in the household were five other individuals.
England and Wales Census, 1851: Living with her husband John (aged 47) and their three children Julia (17), Elizabeth (12) and William (7) at Crayford, Kent, England. Aged about 45. Also in the household were seven other individuals.
In 1861 she and her husband John (57 and an Architect), along with their 27 year old daughter Julia and 17 year old son William, were recorded as Lodgers in the household of Elizabeth Alexander at 30 Broad Street, Brighton Sussex. She was by now aged 55.
She passed away some time after 1861.
