Jonathan was born about 1757. He was christened on
13 May 1757 in Suffolk, England. He was the son of Jonathan Groom and Sarah Rattle[1] Jonathan passed away about 1841.
Arrival in Virginia
In May 1771, Jonathan was sentenced to transportation at Quarter Sessions in Middlesex, England and sent to America in July 1771 on the convict ship, "Scarsdale".[2][3]

Family tradition has it that one of his young daughters disappeared while on her way to her father who was working away from the house in the Bore Auger area. No trace was ever found of her. Another missing little one.
