Biography
Edward was born before 1872.
The Find A Grave Index for Edward Maxim GERHARD lists his father as Edward Max GROSSE. This could well be the Edward Max GROSSE born 1865 and died 1931; but when Edward Maxim was born in 1890, his father was simply listed as Edward GROSSE. Although this parentage makes sense, I cannot prove it. Note that the Find A Grave also says that Edward Maxim's mother Mary Elizabeth RICHER was married to Edward Max GROSSE on October 29, 1890. But this was the day that Edward Max GROSSE married Birdie Mabel CLEWLEY. Further, the 1910 census shows both James GERHARD and Mary Elizabeth RICHER OLSEN GERHARD as being in their 2nd marriages. Mary Elizabeth RICHER was married to Lawrence OLSEN in 1893, so she was almost undoubtedly NOT married to Edward GROSSE (whether Edward Max GROSSE or another Edward GROSSE) when Edward Maxim GROSSE was born in 1890.
